This is a paper containing biographical information about Winfield Scott who was a physician, pharmacist, and veteran of the Civil War. [Shields enlisted in Battery G of the First Pennsylvania Artillery on February 22, 1864 and served until it was mustered out. He owned the Shields Drug Store in Marion Center for many years and was the first post commander of the John Pollock Post of the Grand Army of the Republic which was organized in Marion, Pa. in 1881. At his death, he was the last Civil War veteran in Indiana County.]
